KNUST E-Learning Centre trains teaching and graduate assistants on upgraded Learning Management System

The KNUST E-Learning Centre has organized training sessions for teaching and graduate assistants to enhance their skills in using the university’s upgraded Learning Management System (LMS). The sessions covered practical approaches to online teaching, learning support, and exam management. The training included participants from all six colleges — Art and Built Environment, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Science, Engineering, Health Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences. Each college held sessions in designated venues such as the eVBAB Lab, Huawei Lab, Library ICT Lab, and Pharmacy Lab. The program was divided into four areas.

On the first day, participants learned about the psychology of online learning and how to use video conferencing tools. This session introduced them to the basics of managing virtual learning environments and engaging students effectively. The second session was on online pedagogy and teaching strategies. Teaching and graduate assistants were guided on how to adapt in-person teaching methods to the LMS and improve lesson planning and delivery for virtual classrooms.

On the session day, participants were trained on supporting learning on the LMS. They practiced tasks such as uploading course materials, managing assignments, and monitoring student progress. Practical tips on improving course accessibility and organization were also shared. Another session centered on managing online examinations.

The participants learned how to administer exams, troubleshoot common technical issues, and ensure exam integrity on the LMS platform. The hands-on sessions ensured that participants could apply what they learned in real-time scenarios. The KNUST E-Learning Centre organized the training as part of its efforts to support the university’s transition to the upgraded LMS.

By equipping teaching and graduate assistants with these skills, the Centre is strengthening the university’s online learning system and improving the overall teaching and learning experience.
