The E-Learning Centre Inaugurates E-Learning Day Planning Committee

More than ever, especially since the COVID Pandemic and its resultant restrictions, eLearning has become an indispensable part of the University’s mission to deliver quality tertiary education. And yet, while the need to strengthen the eLearning system has risen, parts of some university communities remain inadequately exposed to the vital role eLearning plays in the achievement of the vision. It is for this reason, the Management of KNUST has set aside a week to celebrate and create awareness of eLearning, and to spearhead this event is the E-Learning Centre.

This week-long event is to serve as an avenue for creating awareness and exposing the university community on eLearning and the activities of the Centre. In view of this, letters of nomination were sent to several stakeholders, nominating them as part of the planning committee to oversee the organisation and inauguration of the E-Learning Day. Thus, on 13th June 2022, the E-Learning Day committee was officially instated, with their first meeting held at the IDL Conference Centre. The committee is constituted by thirteen (14) members namely: Prof. Nana Ewusi-Mensah, who is the Chairman of the committee, Mr. Christopher Addo (Co-Chairman), Mr. Michael K. Anderson (Secretary), Dr. Arnold Forkuor, Dr. Jones Opoku-Ware, Mr. Kobby Nyanteh, Dr. Akyana Britwum, Mr. Solomo K. Richardson, Dr. Geaorge Ashiagbor, Mr. Abraham Adusei, Mr. Charles Owusu-Antwi, Dr. Kofi Agyeman.

Aside from organising the event, the committee’s tasks will be to create awareness on eLearning, work with stakeholders to facilitate access to connectivity and devices for eLearning, raise awareness of the tools for teaching and learning online and provide platforms for stakeholders of eLearning to dialogue on emerging trends.

In this meeting, the committee reached a consensus to meet again on 27th June 2022 where they would present a well-developed action plan on how to bring off the E-Learning Day. The first E-Learning Day celebration will be held from 15th to 19th of August 2022.
