First Year Distance Learning students risk missing out on academic activities for failure to familiarize with the virtual classroom platform.
The E-Learning Centre of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and technology, at a webinar is training students to be acquainted with the virtual classroom platform.
These are part of efforts by the Centre to improve student satisfaction in online teaching and learning.
Students are required to log on to the virtual classroom platform at myclass@knust.edu.gh to access all course materials on the interface.

“Once you go through the myclass@knust.edu.gh , click on the IDL Virtual Learning Training. It is mandatory for every one of you. It is written on your admission letter. Once you click there, you will see a video on Psychology of Online Learning. You must go through the video. The system tracks whether you have watched it or not,” said Registrar at the E-Learning Centre, Christopher Addo.

Mr. Addo added: “Some of the lecturers will conduct online quizzes. It can either be on v-class or exam platform. If you are doing an online quiz, what do you do? When you see ‘submit and finish’, ‘click and finish’, ‘submit and save’, what do you do? They are different things. If it is a one attempt exams, what does it mean?
“You have to go through the exam tutorial. If you are given such an assignment and you do not know, or you have hardly joined our trainings, you may wrongfully click ‘submit and finish’. That will be the end, and you will be graded,” he cautioned
The students were advised to reach out to support services staff for assistance when the need be.
