KEC hosts WiSTEM Girls Camp 2022


Women in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (WiSTEM) since its inception has organized several capacity building activities to inspire young ladies to study Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics related fields and science application. Some key programmes among such capacity building activities include the WiSTEM STEM camp for girls in Senior High Schools pursuing General Science. This year’s camp brought together 230 female science students and 42 teachers from category A, B and C Senior High Schools from all over the Ashanti and Bono Regions.

Upon the request of WiSTEM, the KNUST E-Learning Centre hosted some participants of the camp on Wednesday 27th September, 2022. The session took place at the eVBAB Learning Centre of the KNUST E-Learning Centre. Mr. Ebo Arthur, a Senior ICT Assistant and member of the Service Support Team, took participants through some key aspects of the theme for the session: “Mentoring and Application of ICT in 21st Century Pedagogy for Senior High School Tutors”.

He led participants to appreciate some tools that are vital to the modern day tutor. Mr. Arthur prepared participants to become users of online teaching platforms as he took them through some strategies and netiquettes for effective teaching and learning online.

Participants were delighted for being exposed to this techniques and tools of limitless possibilities in teaching and learning. They expressed their gratitude to the KNUST E-Learning Centre and WiSTEM and promised to apply the skills learned in their various schools.
