KNUST Communication Design PhD Students Explore VR at KNUST E-Learning Centre
PhD students from the Department of Communication Design at KNUST, have visited the E-Learning Centre as part of their academic activities. The visit introduced them to the different units of the Centre, including the Virtual Reality (VR) studio.
The students were taken through the Centre’s functions. These include support for online teaching, content creation, multimedia production, and new technology tools.
They also observed the technical set-up of the studios and how they support both teaching and research across the university. At the VR studio, the students explored how immersive technologies are being developed for teaching and learning.
VR at the Centre is applied to create simulations, design experiences, and new ways of presenting information to learners. The students engaged with demonstrations that highlighted the potential of VR to extend traditional teaching methods and add new tools for research.
For Communication Design, VR presents opportunities to combine design with interactive media. It provides a platform for visual storytelling, user experience design, and creative problem-solving.
The KNUST E-Learning Centre hosts similar visits for students and staff across different disciplines. The aim is to increase awareness of the role of technology in higher education and to show how different fields can adapt these tools.
