KNUST E-Learning Centre Hosts Pro VC Nominees Webinar
The KNUST E-Learning Centre has hosted a webinar on the nominees for the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor. The webinar, held in the center's multimedia studios, provided a platform for the candidates to discuss their visions and respond to questions from the university community. Professor Charles Frimpong from the Department of Industrial Art, Professor Mrs.
Helen Korkor Essandoh from the Department of Civil Engineering, and Professor Michelle David Asamoah from the Department of Supply Chain and Information are the nominees.
Professor Frimpong addressed the importance of supporting PhD and Master’s students in their research.
"We need to provide resources and mentorship to our students. Investing in research equipment and promoting access to conferences will enhance the quality of our research and student learning,"
Professor Essandoh spoke on the need for dialogue and collaboration to address challenges such as high attrition rates especially at the University Information Technology Services (UITS).
"We must pull resources together and create incentives to retain staff. Clear communication and respect for roles is important for maintaining harmony within the university."
Professor Asamoah said motivation is necessary to reduce attrition rates.
"Motivation is very important. We need to invest in our staff and provide a supportive environment, we can retain talented individuals." The discussions covered a range of topics including research support, staff retention, and student accommodation.
The election for the Pro Vice-Chancellor will take place on September 17, 2024. The E-Learning Centre continues to support these important university activities using its facilities.
