KNUST E-Learning Centre trains 72 international students in digital skills
The E-Learning Centre at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, has completed a two-day hands-on training programme for international students who stayed on campus during the vacation period.
The training was on two main areas: Social Media Marketing and Graphic Design.
Participants were asked to select one programme based on their interests. Social Media Marketing was held at the EV-BAB Lab, while the Graphic Design session took place at the Library Mall.
A total of 72 international students took part in the sessions.
The Social Media Marketing group was guided by Senior Assistant Registrar at the KNUST E-Learning Centre, Abigail Dzama Anderson and National Service person, Francis Frimpong Boateng.
The Graphic Design group was led by Senior Technician, Dennis Tandoh, Senior ICT Assistant, Clement Akanborige Ayidana and National Service person, Christopher Afriyie Brobbey.
Each trainer took students through practical lessons designed to build their digital skills.
The Social Media Marketing group learned how to set up and manage social media pages, create simple content, and track basic audience engagement. They also explored how businesses use social media to reach customers and build brands.
The Graphic Design group focused on tools for creating simple designs, posters, and social media graphics.
They were introduced to software and apps that can help create visual content for both personal and professional use.
Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, Professor Eric Appau Asante, encouraged students to apply the skills they were learning and explained the importance of digital tools in today’s world.
The programme was run in partnership with the International Programmes Office and the Directorate of Students’ Affairs.
At the end of the two days, students took part in a practical test. This allowed them to apply what they had learned and helped assess the overall impact of the training.
