KNUST E-Learning Centre trains staff to navigate virtual classroom system
The KNUST E-Learning Centre has begun a training program to equip its staff with skills to navigate an upgraded version of the Learning Management System (LMS). The in-house session started, December 10, 2024, at the E-VBAB Computer Lab, Evans Anfom Auditorium (CCB). Led by Abeiku Arthur, a Systems Analyst at the Institute of Distance Learning, the program introduced staff to features of the new virtual classroom platform. The session is on enabling staff to log in, navigate the platform, and explore tools for online teaching and learning.
The upgraded LMS, now in version 4.5, comes with changes to the interface and additional tools aimed at improving efficiency for both instructors and students. In his opening remarks, Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, highlighted the importance of the training.
He said the session is part of a broader plan to prepare teaching and graduate assistants across all six colleges to use the platform. He explained, “This training ensures our staff can use the system effectively.
They will soon extend this knowledge to others in the university.” The training started with an overview of the LMS. Staff were shown how to log in and access the main dashboard. The facilitator explained the changes made to the system and demonstrated how staff can use new tools for managing virtual classrooms.
Participants practiced using the updated features through guided exercises, ensuring they could apply the lessons to real tasks. A key part of the training was the focus on compatibility.
