KNUST affiliate institutions urged to sustain digital learning strategies after training
The KNUST E-Learning Centre has called on lecturers from affiliate institutions to sustain digital learning strategies beyond the three-day faculty training. Speaking at the closing ceremony on March 20, 2025, facilitators emphasized that digital learning should be integrated into teaching policies and daily academic activities.
Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, urged participants to apply what they had learned and ensure that the training's impact goes beyond the workshop. "We must ensure that what we have learned does not become a nine-day wonder.
It should be embedded into policies and daily teaching practices at our institutions," he said. He added that institutions must invest in digital learning infrastructure and continuous professional development.
Prof. Asante commended the facilitators and participants for their active engagement. "Your willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute has made this training successful," he said. Despite challenges such as unstable electricity, the training continued uninterrupted. "We had to innovate when the power went off, yet we continued the training.
This proves that even in constrained environments, we can use digital tools effectively," Prof. Asante said. Oppong Gibiridu, Junior Assistant Registrar at the Affiliations Office, praised the training's impact and urged participants to share their knowledge.
"This journey is not an event but a process. Keep learning and train your colleagues who could not attend. Let’s ensure that digital learning becomes a permanent part of our institutions," he said.
Nana Adwoa Baidu, Head of the Training and Capacity Building Unit, announced that certification would be based on participation in at least two of the three assessments. "If you did not complete at least two assessments, you will not be certified," she stated.
Daniel Darko Duodu, a participant from the Senior College of Health, described the training as an eye-opener and suggested future sessions be scheduled during vacation periods. "Many instructors wanted to join, but they had classes.
If the next training is planned during vacation, more people can benefit," he said. The KNUST E-Learning Centre assured participants that further training opportunities would be provided to strengthen digital learning adoption across affiliate institutions.
