Nkabom project team tours KNUST E-Learning Centre to explore digital learning for agri-food innovation

A team from the Nkabom Project has visited the KNUST E-Learning Centre to explore how digital learning can support youth employment in Ghana’s agri-food sector.

The Nkabom Project is a partnership led by Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and the Mastercard Foundation.

It brings together academic institutions and other partners to prepare young people for jobs in nutrition and agri-food systems. During the visit, the team toured key units of the E-Learning Centre, including the instructional design unit, the studios, the podcast room, and the virtual reality studio. These spaces support online teaching, training, and content creation.

Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, led the tour. He shared how the Centre uses digital tools to train youth, build capacity, and develop e-learning content across different fields, including agriculture and nutrition.

The Nkabom Project seeks to link education to real jobs in the agri-food sector. It is built around training, entrepreneurship, and policy. The education component, led by Dr. Abena Boakye, focuses on building the skills of young people to meet industry needs.

Industry and government partners are also part of the project. The entrepreneurship pillar, led by Professor Wilberforce Owusu-Ansah, focuses on supporting young people with ideas in food production and agriculture.
