Online training for first years on the use of the virtual classroom platform

firstyearsThe KNUST E-Learning Centre organized online training sessions for the first-year students of the University from the 24th to 26th of January 2022.

The first session of the training was held for students under the Colleges of Engineering, Agriculture and Natural Resources and Art and Built Environment. The training was facilitated by the Service Support staff of the Centre. The first group started their training at 9.00am. They were taken through the basic features of the virtual classroom platform, after which they were taught how to access lecture materials, submit assignments, and partake in quizzes and forums. The next group had their session at 11.00 am. The students were taken through the various features of the platform and how to use it. At 1.00pm, the third had their training, followed by the fourth at 3.00pm and the last for the day, the fifth group, at 5.00pm.

On the second day, the training was held for students from the College of Science and the College of Health Sciences. Just like the first day, the students were put into four groups so everyone could follow the training properly. The training started at 9.00am and lasted for an hour and thirty minutes. The second group started their training at 11.00 am, followed by the third at 1.00 pm and the fourth at 3.00 pm. Facilitators delivered wonderfully and answered questions as brilliantly as they could.

On the last day of the session, Wednesday January 26th 2022, five groups were trained: three of which were first year students of the regular stream and two were first year students of the Institute of Distance Learning. The session again started at 9.00 am for the first group of the day. The next group had their training at 11.00 am and the third at 1.00 pm. The second training session started at 6.30pm. This session lasted for an hour and thirty minutes and finally ended at 8.00pm; bringing an end to all the trainings.

Overall, attendance was very high and quite commendable. The facilitators also did an incredible job as they patiently took the students through the entire training while efficiently answering any questions that were asked them.
