HR Division Conduct Exam for JAR Applicants

The Human Resource Development Division (HRDD) of the University on Thursday, February 9th, 2023 conducted the second examination of applicants for appointment as Junior Assistant Registrar (JAR) in the Registrar’s Offices at the e-VBAB Learning Centre of the KNUST E-Learning Centre (KEC).

The e-VBAB Learning Centre at the KNUST E-Learning Centre is a well-equipped computer laboratory that has 26 computers ready to be used for online and computer-based assessments. It also has a video conferencing room for online lecture deliveries. There is standby power that can last for over a week should there be a power outage. The HRD, recognizing the availability of this infrastructure and the requirements of the assessment, requested that the examination of candidates for appointment as Junior Assistant Registrar positions be held at the Centre. The day’s activities began with an orientation of the candidates by Mr. Benjamin Boampong Owusu, Senior Assistant Registrar at the HRD. The rules, as well as the dos and don'ts were explained to the candidates before the examinations began. In all, there were twenty-four (24) persons who were examined. The examinations were held in two sessions. The first session was a written test requiring applicants to answer in booklets.

Mr. Yaw Owusu Asamoah, the Deputy Registrar (HRD) was present to speak to candidates about the integrity of the exams and the criteria for marking. He stated that the examination is marked by selected Deputy Registrars in the Regisrar’s Offices. He reiterated his office’s commitment to ensuring that persons who are appointed as JARs in the Registrar’s Offices have the requisite skills and competencies to perform their duties. He, therefore, encouraged candidates to give off their best as the process will reward those who do so.

The second session of the examinations entailed the computer-based assessment where candidates were required to write memos using Microsoft Word and develop them into Powerpoint presentations. The staff of the Centre were available to provide technical support throughout the whole process. Also present were Mrs. Janet Ampah and Mr. Anthony Kuufare to support with invigilation.
