Closing of E-Week and Commissioning of the E-Learning facilities
The maiden E-Learning Week celebrations of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology came to an end on Friday, the 2nd of September, 2022. The closing ceremony was graced by the Pro-Vice Chancellor of the University – Prof. Ellis Owusu Dabo. The occasion was also used to commission the e-learning facilities of the University and the E-Learning Ghana network.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor in delivering the Vice-Chancellor’s address noted that the University had long envisaged a time where students do not have to come to the main campus of the University but obtain their degrees remotely. According to the Vice-Chancellor, “a dedicated office and purpose built infrastructure to drive the University’s goal to move beyond the brick-and-mortar classroom and become champions in digital education was what management chose”. “The e-learning facility”, the Vice-Chancellor noted, “will therefore serves as a symbol of management’s continued commitment to this digital education agenda”.

Prof. Eric Appau Asante then used the occasion to outline the concept of the E-Learning Ghana network. He stated that the KNUST E-Learning Centre’s concept of a network for e-learning in Ghana is to create a community of practice for all e-learning practitioners in the country to share ideas and adopt best practices.
