KNUST E-Learning Week Celebration 2023 - DAY 2
The KNUST E-Learning Week Celebration 2023 continued on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the Great Hall. The Online Learning Festival was in full swing, with vibrant exhibition stands attracting students and staff alike. The day commenced with an in-person professional development workshop at 9am, exclusively designed for the University's Security Officers. Prof. Eric Appau Asante, the Director of the E-Learning Center, warmly welcomed everyone and articulated the purpose of the gathering. He delivered a brief exposition on E-Learning and the purpose of the E-learning Week Celebrations. The workshop was themed: "Enhancing Campus Cybersecurity: The Role of the KNUST Security Officer".
The workshop was skillfully facilitated by ACP Dr. Herbert Gustav Yankson of the Ghana Police Academy. Dr. Yankson shared invaluable insights and expertise on cybersecurity, fostering a highly engaging and interactive session with the participants. The workshop aimed to equip security officers with the knowledge and tools necessary to safeguard the University's digital landscape effectively.
After the workshop, participants had the opportunity to visit the exhibition stands and gaming booths, where they could immerse themselves in the full online learning festival experience. The exhibition showcased cutting-edge educational technologies, platforms, and learning resources that support teaching and learning.
At 12pm, the day's momentum continued with an insightful webinar led by Dr. Edem Dzakpasu from the Faculty of Educational Studies. The webinar, titled: "Key Issues for Developing Curriculum that Supports Online Learning", explored strategies for creating effective online learning curricula that cater for the diverse needs of today's students. Dr. Dzakpasu's expertise enriched the audience and inspired them to embrace innovative approaches in curriculum development.
Later in the afternoon, at 3pm, Mr. Akoyire Yaw Aviamu facilitated an enlightening training session on: "Turnitin in an Era of ChatGPT." As the use of AI in academia expands, the training focused on leveraging Turnitin, an advanced plagiarism detection software, to maintain academic integrity and uphold the quality of education in the ChatGPT era.”
Activities for the celebration throughout the day demonstrated the university's dedication to promoting digital education, fostering an innovative culture, and empowering its community. The day's success reinforced the significance of embracing technology to enhance the teaching and learning experiences at KNUST.
