Closing Ceremony for Online Leadership Development and Coaching Training Dubbed Lead the Change


Lead the change

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology Student Representative Council in collaboration with the E-Learning Center recently organized an online leadership training program for students dubbed Online Leadership Development and Coaching. The program was launched by the Vice Chancellor of the university and was aimed at equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective leaders.

The idea for the program came about after a series of deliberations between the SRC and the E-Learning Center, with both parties finding common ground on how they can work together to benefit the students. It was during these deliberations that the idea of an online leadership development and coaching program was suggested and plans were put in place to make it a reality.

Lead The Change program was held at the Allotey auditorium to climax the online leadership training and saw the attendance of about 250 people, including the Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, the SRC president of KNUST, the president of the University Students Association of Ghana, student leaders from across the university and experts in their respective fields, who shared their knowledge and expertise with the participants.

In a keynote address by the Director of the E-Learning Centre, Prof. Eric Appau Asante, he iterated the relevance of good leaders and pioneering the change we seek. The Director also facilitated a short workshop during the program for all student leaders of KNUST. Mr Frank Owusu and Mr. Christian Ntisiful Anderson, who both happen to be the KNUST SRC president and the University Students Association of Ghana respectively. Mr Maximus Adu Sarfo, past SRC president of KNUST joined the program via zoom to address participants and commended organizers of the program for the initiative geared at empowering participants to be great leaders.

Lead the Change at the KNUST Science Auditorium

During the program, time was allotted for a workshop-like session that was designed specifically for student leaders of KNUST. This session provided an opportunity for student leaders to share their experiences, learn from each other, and develop new strategies for effective leadership.

Climaxing the program, five citations of honour were presented to the core facilitators of the program while each of the five guest speakers was presented with a plaque of honour. The ninety-five participants of the Online Leadership Development and Coaching training had certificates granted to them. Lead The Change was an excellent platform for students to learn from experienced leaders and experts and to develop the necessary skills and knowledge to become effective leaders themselves.
