King Mswati III Visits KNUST E-Learning Centre to Explore Digital Collaboration
As part of his visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, King Mswati III of Eswatini toured the KNUST E-Learning Centre to learn more about the University’s digital learning systems and explore areas of collaboration.
The visit was part of an engagement with KNUST, during which the King paid a courtesy call on the Vice-Chancellor and met with University management.
After a meeting at the Council Chamber, the King was led to the E-Learning Centre, where he was introduced to various innovations in digital education and online learning.
At the Centre, the Director, Professor Eric Appau Asante, and the Registrar, Mrs. Abigail Dzama Anderson, took the delegation through a walkthrough of the Centre’s units and explained how the Centre supports teaching and learning at the University.
The team highlighted the Centre’s work in digital literacy training, faculty development, and instructional design.
The Centre also supports online teaching through the Learning Management System and provides training in multimedia content production.
During the visit, the King was shown some of the Centre’s digital studios and briefed on how they are used to record lectures, host webinars, and conduct live training sessions for both students and faculty.
Professor Asante gave an overview of how the Centre serves not only KNUST students and staff but also other institutions in Ghana and beyond.
The E-Learning Centre also shared its work with the Commonwealth of Learning and UNESCO in promoting digital inclusion.
The team briefed the King on how some core courses at KNUST are now assessed through computer-based exams as part of efforts to digitise university assessments.
