Disability Friendly E-Learning

Upon the invitation of the Director of the Centre, the Department of Disability Studies of the University - on the 11th of August, 2022  - paid a courtesy call on the KNUST E-Learning Centre to familiarise themselves with our facilities and see how best the operations and premises of the Centre can be made disability friendly. 

The team, composed of Dr. Wisdom Kwadwo Mprah - the Head of Department, Mr. Marco Stanley Nyarko and Miss Rebecca Tawiah - an Interpreter, were taken around the facility by the Director, Prof. Eric Appau Asante and the Registrar, Mr. Christopher Addo. The first point of call was the reception area and then the Instructional Design space where the team saw at first hand some of the facilities and equipment we have for design and development of effective instructional materials. The team then proceeded to the Support Centre where the Centre has a fully functional office for handling complaints of both staff and students when it comes to e-learning. Dr. Wisdom Mprah and his team then took a tour of our studios with the view to ascertaining how best we can make them friendly towards persons with disabilities. 

The tour of the studios also took the team to our offices on the first floor of the Casely Hayford building where most of the studios are located. Overthere, the various recording studios and the styles of lecture videos they can produce were introduced to our visitors. They also had a feel of our equipment and processes when it comes to lecture delivery. 

We are grateful Dr. Wisdom Kwadwo Mprah and the Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation studies for honouring our invitation. We look forward to their recommendations on how best we can improve our services for PWDs as we all put our shoulders to the wheel in making KNUST the centre of excellence in e-learning in the subregion.
