Edwin Edem Adedze, head of the Virtual Reality (VR) Unit, reported on activities at the Immersive Learning and Pedagogy Unit.

“This semester, we welcomed many students, staff, and guests. We showed them how VR can help in teaching and learning. Some of our visitors were from partner schools and government offices. We also developed a small VR app called Introduction to VR, which teaches people how to use the VR headsets and controls,” Edwin said.

The VR Unit faced some challenges, including not having enough VR devices for group sessions and needing more help during busy periods.

To address these, the team created short demo videos for those without headsets and set up scheduled demo times.

Looking ahead, they plan to get more VR devices and work closely with departments to include VR in their teaching.

Anita Afrakoma Banafo, Senior Administrative Assistant for the Fully Online Programmes Unit, said, “We worked hard to keep online classes running well. We also focused on making course content better and easier for students to follow. Our goal is to make sure online students get the same good learning as those on campus.”

Samuel Selorm Anane Avotri, Senior Technician with the Instructional Design Unit reported that the unit trained many lecturers to use e-learning tools. “We helped staff learn how to use Moodle, virtual labs, and other tools. This gave them more confidence to include e-learning in their classes,” Baidu said.

Martin Sefa Anno, Senior ICT Assistant for the E-VBAB Lab, explained the lab’s role. “This lab became an important place for digital learning and development this semester. We ran many activities to help students and staff build their digital skills” he said.

These include getting new equipment, setting up booking systems for VR sessions, and creating more learning modules that fit different courses.
