The E-Learning Centre provides Zoom accounts for all programs in the University

E-Learning Centre provides zoom accountsIn a meeting held with Heads of Department on the 31st of March, 2022, the Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, outlined several activities that have been carried out by the Centre - key amongst which was capacity building through digital literacy training. He also revealed that as a measure of ensuring smooth e-learning operations this semester, the Centre has provided two zoom accounts for every program in the University. These accounts have been distributed to all HODs through their emails and WhatsApp contacts, he stated.

He revealed that the Centre has provided a minimum of two zoom accounts for each program run by the university and pleaded with the heads of department to come up with schedules to optimize the use of the accounts for live tutorial sessions. The director also presented on the Centre’s newly developed platform for data visualization which captures metrics on course-lecturer assignment, lecturer-VClass usage, student-VClass usage and course material upload.

Although the number of accounts provided for each program is limited, the Director disclosed that this was only an initial step in getting enough accounts to cover for all programs as well as for all year groups. He entreated all HODs to furnish the Centre with account usage schedules so that the Centre could be available to assist with any challenge during live sessions.

The Director finally mentioned that in the Centre’s bid to help departments, program coordinators and lecturers function and teach effectively online, especially, respecting live or synchronous sessions, about twenty-three state-of-the art studios are being furnished for use. He revealed that these projects should soon be completed for use by the university community.
