KNUST Technology Week 2024: E-Learning Centre Enhances Industry-Academia Collaboration
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) hosted its maiden Technology Week 2024 (TWEEK '24), an event aimed at bridging the gap between academia and industry. The event was organized by the Computer Engineering Department and focused on transforming academic innovations into sustainable businesses.
KNUST's E-Learning Centre played a critical role in the event, providing live streaming and other technological support to ensure broader access and participation. The Centre's involvement was pivotal in enabling the seamless integration of technology into the event's activities. The three-day event featured panel discussions, presentations, and exhibitions, all designed to foster collaboration between students and industry professionals.
Final year students showcased their innovations, engaging with industry representatives to explore the potential for turning their ideas into viable products. Prof. Emmanuel Akowuah, Head of the Computer Engineering Department, emphasized the importance of aligning academic research with societal needs. The event highlighted KNUST's commitment to transforming knowledge into impactful solutions.
The Provost of the College of Engineering, Prof. Kwabena Biritwum Nyarko, highlighted the significance of the event in promoting collaboration between academia and industry. He noted that this collaboration is essential for developing new products, processes, and startups. Industry representatives, including David Ofori from NEIP and Franklin Eleblu from IT Consultium Limited, shared insights on creating a vibrant innovation ecosystem in Ghana.
