Indian High Commissioner visits KNUST E-Learning Centre, explores future partnerships
The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, His Excellency Manish Gupta, along with his spouse, Nimeesha Gupta, an educationist, and
V.N. Parameswaran, Second Secretary at the Indian High Commission, paid a visit to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) E-Learning Centre.
The purpose of the visit was to strengthen the relationship between India and KNUST, centering on e-learning and educational collaboration.
The delegation was received by Professor Eric Appau Asante, Director of the KNUST E-Learning Centre, and Mr. Christopher Addo, Senior Assistant Registrar at the E-Learning Centre.
They led the tour and provided details of the Centre’s operations, including ongoing projects such as the E-VBAB (e-Vidya Bharati and Arogya Bharati) project, which is part of a collaborative effort between Indian universities and KNUST.
Explaining the importance of the E-VBAB project, Professor Asante said, "The E-VBAB project has been key in allowing Ghanaian students to pursue degrees in Indian universities through fully funded scholarships. The program, which began in 2020, is nearing its fourth year and has greatly benefitted our students offering Masters and specialized programs," Manish Gupta expressed his appreciation for the infrastructure and the progress of the project.
The tour included a visit to the E-VBAB computer lab, which was set up specifically for online exams and proctoring for students enrolled in Indian universities.
Professor Asante noted the importance of sustaining the partnership and exploring new ways to enhance it. "We discussed the possibilities for future staff exchanges, technical training, and capacity building between Indian universities and KNUST," he said.
The visit concluded with discussions about the future of the E-VBAB project and the broader scope of collaboration between India and KNUST.
